Recent downtime... why?
« on: July 13, 2010, 11:49:39 PM »
Okay, someone posted a topic about a possible Trojan from the downtime the other day.... This statement is false.

What happened was someone with a strong botnet (a group of zombie computers that a owner has infected) had made a DDoS attack (Denial of service). A DDoS is simply all these zombie computers doing a ping on the main server IP; it uses lots of bandwidth and makes your website inaccessible... There was no chance that anyone got a trojan from it.

One user said that he has gotten a virus warning called "HouseCall"... HouseCall is a virus scanner... from TrendMicro at the link http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Please, do not worry users... There is no way that the attack has affected your computer

I can vouch this, IF AND ONLY IF a DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack harmed anything, it would be the servers, not your computers. its just some asshole trying to bring down peoples servers and nothing more.
